Installing ROBOTC 4.x




To install ROBOTC 4.x, follow these steps:

  • Run the installer and follow the instructions on the screen. You may need to restart your computer after the installation.



  • Launch ROBOTC 4.x from your desktop or start menu.



  • Enter your license information when prompted. You can purchase a license online or use a trial license for 10 days.



  • Select your platform (VEX Cortex or VEX IQ) from the drop-down menu on the top left corner of the screen.



Connecting Your Robot




To connect your robot to your computer, follow these steps:

  • In ROBOTC 4.x, go to Robot > Platform Type > Natural Language PLTW (or Natural Language VEX IQ) to enable the Graphical Natural Language mode. This mode allows you to use simplified commands such as "Forward", "LineTrack", and "Repeat" loops.



Writing Your First Program




To write your first program, follow these steps:


  • In ROBOTC 4.x, go to File > New > Graphical File to create a new graphical file.



  • In the left panel, you will see a list of commands that you can drag and drop into your program. You can also right-click on any command to see its description and parameters.



  • To make your robot move forward for one second, drag and drop the "Forward" command from the "Movement" category into your program. Set the speed parameter to 50% and the time parameter to 1000 milliseconds.



  • To make your robot stop, drag and drop the "StopAllMotors" command from the "Movement" category into your program.



  • To save your program, go to File > Save As and give it a name such as "MyFirstProgram".



  • To download your program to your robot, go to Robot > Compile and Download Program. You will see a message saying "Download Complete" when it is done.



  • To run your program on your robot, press the start button on your robot or controller. You should see your robot move forward for one second and then stop.
